Managing editor

Progressive Content is looking for an experienced business writer / editor who can turn their hand to a diverse range of content for B2B clients.

This is a varied and interesting full-time role based in our central London office.

Our clients require content covering a wide range of sectors, including professional services, financial services (from fintech and insurance, to banking and wealth management), life sciences, media, telecoms and aerospace. The role will initially cover a couple of clients and will require supporting on new business wins too.

The role involves originating briefs, writing, editing and sub-editing content, as well as commissioning specialist contributors through our commissioning platform Content Cloud.


  • Write, commission, edit and copy-edit short-form articles, longer features and digital publications.
  • Provide editorial support for the production of infographics, videos and event content. Recent jobs have included interviews with the inventor of a self-parking car and the head of oncology at a pharmaceutical company; planning content around the use of robotics in insurance; and developing a publication and event on adblocking attended by CEOs of major news brands.
  • Ensure content is of a high standard and helps the client achieve business goals. Content will often be aimed at senior executives.
  • Interview senior subject matter experts, CEOs and professional services partners. 
  • Keep abreast of innovations in key sectors as well as news relating to clients and their competitors.
  • Develop ideas for content and identify new opportunities for content production.
  • Produce content for social media to support content distribution.
  • Report into the editorial director and work closely with account directors.


  • Confidence in interviewing senior figures and ability to adapt to new subject areas.
  • Ability to interrogate and deliver on client briefs.
  • Experience of large scale content campaigns and understanding of audience behaviour across different media.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt quickly.
  • Good time management. Ability to meet tight deadlines and shuffle priorities accordingly.
  • Ability to work as part of an internal team, and develop good relationships with clients.
  • Working knowledge of social media and experience using it to effectively promote communications.
  • Understanding of challenges facing professional services and financial services companies.
